John Tyrrell

Life and Experiences of John Tyrrell

In 1972, John was hired by Grand Central Stores. He worked in various aspects of management until 1981, when he was employed as a store manager in Amarillo, Texas. 

​

John then moved back to Utah was was the Regional Director for Artistic Garden Arts. He supplied general merchandise for Safeways, Alpha Beta Stores, and Albertsons in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. When the company was sold to Universal Importers, he worked under contract for one year. 

​

In 1986, John started to work for Smith Food and Drug in management until 1996, when he moved to California to work for Smith Food and Drug, where he managed and built stores in southern California. When Smith's left California, John moved to Tucson, Arizona where he continued to work for Smith's in management, moving to Fry's Food and Drug(a Kroger Store) when Smith's merged with Kroger Food Stores in 1996.

 

He continued to work there until 2012, when he retired and returned to Spanish Fork to take care of his mother until she passed away later that year. He bought the house and stayed in Spanish Fork at that point. In 2013, he approached Bill Summers at Macey's and was hired as a front-end supervisor.

He loves the people of Spanish Fork and the community here, and will live the rest of his life in this community.
